President Aoun discussed development affairs and law proposals with MPs.

The President gave instructions to expedite Daher el Baydar road maintenance, and stressed the importance of implementing Beirut-Beqaa tunnel.


President Michel Aoun considered that the implementation of the Beirut-Beqaa Tunnel using BOT method, or in collaboration with the private sector, is “One of the most important development projects to activate transportation between Beirut, the Lebanese coast and the Beqaa, and is the solution of several crises such as housing, transit and other productive sectors, as agriculture and industry in the country”.
President Aoun’s positions came while receiving a delegation of Beqaa MPs which included: MP Abdul Rahim Murad, MP Ghazi Zaaiter, MP Al-Walid Sukkariya, MP Salim Aoun, MP Mohammed Al-Qaraawi, and MP Cesar Maalouf, in the presence of former Minister, Salim Jreisatti, today at the Presidential Palace.
The President discussed the tunnel implementation and its positive results, in light of ongoing contacts made by the delegation with officials, to facilitate construction of the tunnel. President Aoun also told the delegation that he pays special attention to this project and will work to remove all obstacles, knowing that the adoption system does not cost the treasury additional financial burdens.
The delegation informed the President of the dire situation of the Beqaa road, via Daher Al-Baydar, where many cars and trucks pass daily, suffering of suffocating traffic in day and night, in addition to the near absence of traffic lights, which causes traffic jams.
Moreover, the President expressed keenness to improve this road, and gave instructions to the concerned authorities to expedite maintenance, especially with the beginning of summer season, where there is exceptional crowding.

From their side, Beqaa Deputies expressed their gratitude for President Aoun’s support.

President Aoun then met MP, Hekmat Dib, and discussed with him the current situation.
Issues related to law proposals submitted to the Parliament, and the work of the National Commission for the Abducted were also tackled in the meeting.
