McKinsey:
“We continue our support to the Lebanese Army in defending Lebanese sovereignty
and independence”.
President
Michel Aoun met US Central Command Commander, General Kenneth McKinsey, and US
Ambassador, Dorothy Shea, who were accompanied by a diplomatic and military delegation,
today at Baabda Palace, on an acquaintance visit after his
appointment in his new position.
During the
meeting, the President praised the cooperation between Lebanese and US armies
in training and armaments, wishing to develop military cooperation between the
two countries. The President also pointed to the support, that the Lebanese Army
received from the US, during “Fajr Al-Jouroud” battle against terrorists,
noting that the Lebanese Army succeeded in eliminating sleeper terrorist cells,
and continues to chase them.

General McKinsey affirmed the US military leadership’s continuous support to
the Lebanese Army, “Which defends Lebanon’s independence and sovereignty”,
pointing to the distinctive capabilities which the Lebanese Army enjoys at
various combat and training levels, which is reinforced by quality and continuous
training.
