President Aoun: “Lebanon is still waiting for the countries concerned to respond to its request in facilitating the return of displaced Syrians to their country and Palestinians who came from Syria”.
 
Lazarini: “UNRWA will continue to fulfill its obligations towards Palestinian refugees in Lebanon”.
 
 
President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, expressed his hope that the donor countries would respond to the request of “UNRWA”, to provide the necessary funds to get out of the financial crisis, and to continue providing all their services to Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and other countries.
 
President Aoun stressed during his meeting with UNRWA Commissioner-General, Mr. Philip Lazarini, before noon today at Baabda Palace, that “Lebanon is still waiting for the concerned countries to respond to its request to facilitate the return of the displaced Syrians to their countries, as well as the Palestinians who came from Syria to Lebanon as a result of the targeting of the Palestinian Yarmouk camp in Syria. 
The President considered that Lebanon has suffered from the repercussions of the Syrian displacement and the Palestinian asylum, which suffices to put an end to this suffering.
President Aoun also discussed with Mr. Lazarini the general situation in the country, especially in light of the economic and financial difficulties, in addition to the complications of the spread of the Corona pandemic, and the explosion that occurred in the Beirut port on August 4, expressing his hope that the initiative of French President, Emmanuel Macron, would succeed in its political, economic and social dimensions.
 
For his part, Mr. Lazarini discussed the work of the UNRWA in Lebanon and the neighboring countries, and the financial difficulties it is facing, pointing out that despite these circumstances, "UNRWA" will continue to fulfill its obligations towards Palestinian refugees in Lebanon in the hope that its financial revenues will improve soon.
 
Mr. Lazarini was accompanied by the Director of UNRWA Affairs in Lebanon, Mr. Claudio Cordone, and the Legal Adviser in charge of External Relations, Mrs. Marie Shibli.  
On the Lebanese side, the meeting was attended by former Minister, Salim Jreisatti, and advisors Brigadier General Paul Matar, Mr. Rafic Chelala and Osama Khashab.
 
Former Minister Ghassan Atallah:
President Aoun received former Minister, Ghassan Atallah and discussed with him the general conditions and the file of the displaced in light of the anti-corruption process in it. 
The research also tackled the needs of the Chouf region.
 
Chairman of the “Promising Lebanese Party”:
The President also met the Chairman of the “Promising Lebanese Party”, Mr. Fares Fattouhi, who discussed the general conditions in the country, the work of the institution that bears his name in the social and humanitarian fields, in addition to the file of the displaced Syrians and the initiatives undertaken by the “Promising Lebanese Party” in this field.
