President Aoun discussed the issue of a special pardon for a number of prisoners to confront the issue of overcrowding in prisons, with the Justice Minister, and conducted a series of diplomatic, political and development meetings.

 

 

The President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, will deliver at 5:30 pm this afternoon Beirut time, Lebanon's speech at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, which is held remotely via video technology, as a result of the health conditions and the spread of the "Corona" virus.

In his speech, President Aoun will focus on the challenges that Lebanon is facing in the current stage and the repercussions of the explosion that occurred in Beirut port on August 4.

 

Justice Minister:

President Aoun received the Minister of Justice, Mrs. Marie-Claude Najem, today at Baabda Palace, and discussed with her the issue of a special pardon for a number of prisoners to confront the issue of overcrowding in prisons and the measures to be taken in this field.

 

Sudanese Ambassador:

Diplomatically, President Aoun received the Sudanese ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Al-Sadiq Ali, on a farewell visit on the occasion of the end of his diplomatic work in Lebanon. 

The President thanked the Sudanese ambassador for the efforts he made during his stay in Beirut to strengthen relations between the two countries and develop them in all fields.

 

 

MP Asaad Dergham:

Politically, the President of the Republic met with MP, Asaad Dergham, and deliberated with him the general conditions in the country and the situation in the Akkar region, especially in terms of security and development, in addition to the needs of the region.

 

Former MP Emile Rahme:

The President then met the Chairman of the Lebanese Solidarity Party, Emile Rahme, and discussed with him current developments.
