President of
the Republic, General Michel Aoun, chaired two meetings, attended by Caretaker
Prime Minister, Dr. Hassan Diab, and a number of ministers and concerned
individuals, today at the Presidential Palace.
The first
meeting was attended by Caretaker Prime Minister, Dr. Hassan Diab, Finance
Minister, Ghazi Wazny, former Minister, Salim Jreisatti, head of the Audit
Bureau, Judge Mohammed Badran, Director General of the Lebanese Presidency, Dr.
Antoine Choucair, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, Judge Mohammed
Makkiye.
The meeting was
devoted to tackle a number of administrative issues, including the suspension
of the publication of the Official Gazette, and the contracts of companies that
undertook to accompany the debt restructuring, and it was decided to seek
appropriate solutions to both issues, based on applicable laws and regulations.
Waste Crisis:
The second
meeting was attended by Caretaker PM Diab, Environment Minister, Demianos
Qattar, the President’s Environmental Affairs Advisor, former Minister Fadi
Jreisatti, Presidency Director General, Dr. Antoine Choucair, Secretary General
of the Council of Ministers, Judge Mahmoud Makkiye, the Prime Minister’s
Advisor, Mr. Elie Assaf, the President’s Advisor for Engineering Affairs,
Engineer Antoine Souaid, and head of the Planning and Programming Department at
the Council of Development and Reconstruction, Dr. Ibrahim Shahrour.
The meeting was
devoted to discuss the waste crisis and the ways to address it as soon as
possible. It was decided to ask the Council of Development and Reconstruction
to develop an appropriate vision to avoid aggravation of the waste crisis and
to seek appropriate solutions in this regard.
