​President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, condoled late politician and freedom fighter, Massoud Al-Ashqar, who “Belongs to the class of honest politicians who didn’t compromise the dignity, unity and stability of Lebanon”.

The President expressed his condolences to the family of late Al-Ashqar and his loved ones, stating that “Today, with the departure of Massoud Al-Ashqar, I lost a friend, with whom the love of the homeland, and the common values on which we were raised up on, united us for many years”.

President Aoun also considered that “Today, Lebanon is in need to the likes of the late Massoud Al-Ashqar, who placed the interests of his country above all interests, so he was loved, known and kept in all hearts, with great respect”.

The President concluded praying to God Almighty to have mercy on Al-Ashqar’s soul, comfort the hearts of his family and grant Lebanon salvation from this suffocating ordeal.​
