The Minister Boutros Hard said after meeting the President: "I have taken the opportunity today to congratulate the President on his election. It is now the duty of all Lebanese put themselves at his disposal and support him to complete his mission as President of the Republic and save Lebanon. I hoped that every effort will be made to enforce the provisions of the Constitution and Lebanese laws. Lebanon cannot live without law and without constitution. If the President of the Republic and the next government manage to put laws into effect, the country's situation will be perfect. That is what I emphasized and I wished that politics finds its founding principles.”
He added: “In order to guarantee democracy, the opposition is necessary. If all factions participate in power, the cabinet will become a service exchange board allowing corruption to spread. I called upon the President of the Republic that the ministerial statement clearly defines the principles and the government program in order to avoid individual interpretation. I have nominated Saad Hariri to form the new government.”
