​Patriarch Rahi wished President Aoun success in his meeting with His Holiness the Pope.

President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, made a phone call this afternoon to Maronite Patriarch Mar Beshara Boutros Al-Rahi, who is in Cairo.

The President discussed with Patriarch Rahi a number of issues, especially tomorrow’s visit to the Vatican and Rome, to meet His Holiness Pope Francis next Monday, Secretary of the Papal State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Monsignor Jean Paul Gallagher.

On Tuesday, President Aoun will also visit Italian President Sergio Mattarella, to congratulate him on his re-election as President of the Italian Republic, and to discuss bilateral relations between Lebanon and Italy.

For his side, Patriarch Rahi wished President Aoun success in his visit, especially the meeting with His Holiness the Pope, who holds Lebanon in his heart and prayers.

President Aoun will leave Beirut tomorrow, Sunday, for Rome, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Dr. Abdullah Bou Habib.​
