Hochstein:
“Discussion rounds have been concluded, comments have been identified, and the
final version of the proposal will be sent within the next few hours”.
The
Lebanese side is carefully studying the final formula in preparation for taking
the appropriate decision.
The
President was briefed about the details of the discussions with Hochstein over
the past three days, by Deputy Speaker Bou Saab.
The Presidency Press Office issued the following statement:
“President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, received a phone
call, this afternoon, from the American mediator, Amos Hochstein.
The President was briefed on the results of the recent rounds of
contacts with the Lebanese side on one hand, and the Israeli side on the other,
during which the observations submitted by the two sides were studied.
Mr. Hochstein also explained that the rounds of discussions had
concluded and the remarks that Hochstein would send over the next few hours
were outlined in a copy containing the final version of the proposal on the
demarcation of southern maritime borders.
Moreover, Mr. Hochstein thanked President Aoun and his team for the
wise management in the negotiations files and for the way in which the points
under discussion were dealt with, which facilitated the completion of the
negotiations through exhausting work in the past days.
In parallel, the Lebanese side will study the final version
carefully in preparation for taking the appropriate decision.
Prior to Hochstein's call, President Aoun met with Deputy Speaker
of Parliament, Elias Bou Saab.
Deputy Speaker Bou Saab briefed the President on the talks held
during the past three days between him and Hochstein”.
